Does Listening To Dave Matthews Band Make You A Genius?

Hard Rock Calling 2009 - Day 3

I have a friend who is literally a Genius. And just about every time I went to visit him it seems as if Dave Matthews was playing. So, I got to putting my non sequitur logic to good use and deduced that the Genius listened to Dave, therefore listening to Dave makes you a Genius. Now, due to the fact that I grew up in the heyday of that which is Dave Matthews, I was surrounded in college by flip flopped, or barefoot, frat guys wearing their University of South Carolina cocks hat lounging around playing horrible Dave covers on acoustic guitar. let me tell you, songs Reeaaallly lose their pizzazz after that. But I liked acoustic guitars. I liked Ani Difranco.
Anyways, fast forward to 2002. A group by the name of Soulive tours with DMB and releases a cover of Ani Difranco’s Joyful Girl. I liked the original, but this cover was right up there with it. I’ve always gone back and forth since then putting it on CDs and playlists. It’s one of my all time favourite songs. Well, today it came on while my phone was on random. And let me tell you, I could feel myself getting smarter. You should check it out and see what you think. I guarantee what ever it is, it’ll be something along the lines of Richard Feynman’s Quantum electrodynamics.

  1. Well, I listen to Dave all the time, and I’m a certified genius. So, you must be onto something. ;)

Really, I’m not bright at all, but I’m selfishly agreeing with you just to make myself look good. Loved the post! Funny, and the song is really good too, of course. Your blog is great, by the way. Very glad I stumbled across it this afternoon. :)
